In accordance with the bilateral agreement on cooperation between the Lviv State University of Life Safety and the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Tallinn, Estonia), within the framework of the international project "Support to the Ukrainian Emergency Situations Service in the system of training in the field of humanitarian demining" a training for humanitarian demining specialists took place. The event took place during June 3-7, 2019 in the premises of the demining center of the Rescue Department of Estonia. Participation in the event was taken by cadets in the "Civil Security" specialty (specialization "Engineering support for engineering, pyrotechnic and explosive works"), as well as representatives of the Department of Civil Protection and computer modeling of eco-geophysical processes.
During the meeting, the delegation got acquainted with the training base of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Tallinn), which was presented by the rector of the academy. For the first time in the modern computer laboratory of the academy the training was held with experts in mine clearance. The command actions of pyrotechnic units and other emergency services during the events related to the danger of an explosion of ammunition in various conditions have been worked out.
On the base of the Police College of the Academy (Piarnu, Western Estonia), cadets and officers worked out a marksmanship training course for pistols and automatic rifles.
Practitioners from the western and southern mine clearance group of Estonia in the area of responsibility of the western demining group conducted a practical training session on the use of modern weapons search tools VALLON, GARRETT. The cadets worked out a technical survey and an in-depth survey of the plain area for detection of lethal ammunition using the global positioning system.
Especially cognitive and dangerous for the delegation were the explosive works to destroy the combat obsolete munitions (artillery ammunition, rifles). Different ways and methods not used in Ukraine were used for destruction. This event was held jointly with the military forces of Estonia, representatives of the southern and eastern group of mine clearance of Estonia in the territory of the military training ground (Mustanina, Eastern Estonia) in the responsibility area of the eastern demining group.
Officers and cadets of the Ukrainian delegation conducted classes in the premises of the Estonian Mine Center (Tallinn) for the representatives of the Armed Forces, demining groups and police, rescuers of Estonia. The system of civil protection functioning in Ukraine, work of demining groups in the area of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, engineering barriers system were presented.
This stage is not the last in the project and involves the further training and exchange meetings for both cadets and officers involved in the training of specialists for demining units.
